Royal Ploughing Day in Thailand

This event is again with not fixed date and happens about 10th of May. It symbolizes the beginning of the sowing period. Priests bless the seeds and make symbolic furrows with plough which is pulled by buffalo. When the Royal Ploughing ceremony ends the people who attended the ceremony walk through the furrows in order to get the blessed seeds and they are supposed to bring good harvest for the coming season.

Once the leading role was done by His Majesty the King but nowadays he gives the power to the Ploughing Lord who is the King’s representative for the ceremony. The Royal Ploughing ceremony is a part of Annual Agriculturist Day in order to make those people who deal with agriculture to pay greater attention to their sowing and bring luck.
